Wakayama Port Festival【Wakayama City】
Held every summer at Wakayama Port, this fireworks festival was started to pray for port safety and to foster a deeper connection between residents and the port.
The venue is about a 10-minute walk from Nankai Wakayama Port Station, and the surrounding roads are closed to traffic on the day of the event. Expect plenty of food stalls and a lively festival atmosphere.
Starting in 2025, a drone show has been added before the fireworks display.

HANABI ~Night Magic~【Wakayama City】
This is one of Marina City’s signature fireworks events that locals have come to love.
Each shell is launched with commentary, and the fireworks are choreographed to themed music. The grand finale features a dazzling rapid-fire display that paints the summer night sky in spectacular color.

The Hashimoto Summer Ball takes place along the wide, open banks of the Kinokawa River, and it’s the biggest fireworks show in the northern Kii region — including large shaku-dama shells that light up the sky over the river.

This beloved summer festival is held every year in honor of Kinokuniya Bunzaemon, a legendary merchant who famously sailed through a storm to deliver mandarin oranges from Kii to Edo.

Yuasa Festival【Yuasa】
Now in its 50th year as of 2026, the Yuasa Festival is a long-running community favorite. Brilliant fireworks fill the sky above Yuasa Hiroko Port, which spans the border of Yuasa and Hirogawa towns.
Alongside the fireworks, the festival features a beer garden, karaoke, stage events (including taiko drumming, dance, and folk dance), and the Yuasa Zomeki — a traditional local dance.
